Hair Removal: Know The Options
Are you considering hair removal? Whether you want to
eliminate unsightly hair from your face, arms, legs, or anywhere else
on your body, it is important to understand that there are many
different options in the hair removal process. Permanent,
semi-permanent, and long-term hair removal choices abound, so it is
quite important to research each option before making a hair removal
decision.
First of all, there are permanent hair removal systems that claim to
take away the hair for good. The most widely known system of permanent
hair removal is electrolysis. This basically means that a needle is
placed within the hair follicle and an electric pulse passes through.
The hair follicle is eliminated, and so too is the hair. Obviously,
this can take quite a bit of time, and is probably best for smaller
areas of hair removal. The most common places for this kind of hair
removal are on the face, underarms, and bikini areas. This hair removal
option can be costly and time-consuming, as several treatments may be
necessary to completely eradicate the hair.
Other options include semi-permanent hair removal, which is usually
achieved through the use of lasers. This option means that the hair
removal will probably last for at least a few weeks, but it can be a
month or longer. If you are interested in getting rid of hairs between
the eyebrows, on the upper lip or chin area, or another small area, and
you don't mind having to be re-treated to continue the hair removal
process, this may be for you. Also included in this category are waxes
that remove the hair. This hair removal option works by placing the wax
on the skin and pulling the hairs out of the follicles. This can be
described as somewhat uncomfortable, so it is suggested that you take
ibuprofen or acetaminophen prior to waxing an area of the body. Despite
the momentary discomfort, waxing is a great semi-permanent hair removal
option.
Hair reduction is another possibility in hair removal. Some people
prefer this type of hair removal system, because it can mean that the
darker or thicker areas of hair become lighter and finer over time.
Using lasers or flash lamps, low doses of radiation are directed at the
areas of hair; the hair removal or reduction occurs because the
radiated beams actually damage the hair itself. But not to
worry—they are specifically designed to only damage the hair,
and not the tissues surrounding it. This kind of hair removal is a
fabulous choice if you have larger areas that need to be treated. Since
the beams can be adjusted, an area as large as your entire back could
be treated.
All in all, hair removal options abound. Depending on what you are
looking to achieve, how much you are willing to invest, and the area(s)
that are in need of hair removal, you could choose a multitude of
treatments. From needles to lasers to waxes, hair removal systems are
available for any area of the body and for all price ranges. When
making your hair removal choice, know your options, and know what to
expect.
